Crystal Grove’s Miner Showdown
Come try your luck with your hardest working friends! We will be sectioning up the wall our Tears of Wenedi mine into 10 different “spots”. Ten teams are welcome to bring in their tools and see who can find the best specimen, most quartz weight or who moves the most rock! For this competition and competitors only – electric jackhammers, hammer drills, and up to 7500 generators ARE permitted! The rest of our mining area(s) will still be open to the public (no power tools) and a food truck will be on-site. Please come on out and see what’s it’s all about!
Dates: September 22st & 22nd, 2024
Cost: $300 per team; up to 3 people allowed on a team.
Rules & Regulations:
- Team spots picked by lottery by team captain.
- Up to 7500 watt generators permitted
- No Hydraulics
- No air tools
- No saws
- No gas powered hammers
- Team fee includes one water/electric campsite
- Any contesting of border lines and specimens found near them are to be figured out between teams; a $50 fee applies if a staff member has to call it
- No one mining in your “spot” other than team members
- Mining Hours for event are Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., awards at 3:30
- Each team is to submit their choice for Nicest Specimen for judging; each team member will vote for nicest specimen and are not allowed to vote on their own submission.
Prizes:
- Nicest Specimen – Each winner to receive a free weekend cabin stay for four; team trophy.
- Most Quartz Weight – Each winner to receive a $50 gift certificate to Crystal Grove Diamond Mine & Campground
- Most Rock Moved – Each winner to receive a t-shirt!
